What Makes this Park Unique

  • Visit Tululusia Waterfall on a short hike.
  • Look for the endangered colobus monkey in the forest canopy.
  • Spot large populations of African buffalo, giraffe, flamingo, and antelope.
  • Spanning Mount Meru’s volcanic terrain, Arusha National Park is the perfect place to start your safari experience.
  • Small but wildlife treasures secretly hidden in its endowment in diverse wildlife attractions too enormous and much is available here for exploration.

Description

Arusha National Park is often overlooked by travellers heading to the more famous sights of the Ngorongoro Crater and Serengeti. However, with a little time, Arusha National Park offers some lovely walking in the foothills of Mount Meru and canoeing on the Momela Lakes, plus gentle game drives. A half-day or full-day visit is well worth the time. There's a range of activities in Arusha National Park. These include walking safaris, accompanied by a ranger and lasting for up to four hours, during which you will stop for a break at one of the park's lovely picnic sites. You can also explore the further reaches of the park by vehicle, taking in some of the lovely views and keeping an eye out for wildlife. Another good activity here – one not found in Tanzania's other parks – is a canoeing safari exploring the Momela Lakes.

Getting There

Get a direct flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport which is located 29 minutes from Arusha town. A drive from Arusha town to Arusha National Park is 45 minutes. Alternatively, a tourist may use a domestic flight from Kilimanjaro International Airport to connect to Arusha Airport.
